Canyon Cove Resort Batangas - Room Accommodation

Canyon Cove Resort Batangas have Superior rooms, Deluxe rooms and Suites to choose from.  We got the Deluxe room fully furnished with a bathroom, flat screen television, mini refrigerator, kettle, electronic safe, bathrobes and slippers.

The deluxe room has a balcony overlooking the sea.  This is anybody's chance to witness how the sky turns to dusk.  A lovely sight to behold.

Canyon Cove Resort's Deluxe room
I know what's in your minds right now.   Why is the bed crumpled?  Right?  That's really amiss in my part because the moment we opened the door our kid rushed into the room and what else was the first thing he did was to try out the bed by jumping from one bed to the other that it was too late for me to stop him.  He only stopped when I shooed him down with the reason to take some pictures first before he can continue his escapade of bed-jumping. =)

Small bed beside the window
This small bed beside the window is perfect for your little ones to sleep in or just to play around on.  The three walls serve as protection for them not to fall off the bed that easily. =)

Desk top, mirror, television, mini refrigerator and closet with electronic safe and bathrobes

Kettle, 2 mugs, 2 wine glasses and 2 complimentary coffee

Mini refrigerator contains 2 complimentary bottled water

Closet, bathroom and the room's door
These three (3) doors are:  Left - the closet door,  Middle - the bathroom door, Right - the deluxe room's door.

Closet
This is the one feature that I really don't appreciate.  For one, the closet is too small and narrow for a family to put their clothes in.  And secondly, the table beside it is blocking the closet door making it hard for you to fix or get your clothes.  Maybe because they know most of the guests who take their vacation comes only for a day or two that it really doesn't matter.  But still, I think they could have made it a little bit bigger. =)

Bathroom
Upon entering the bathroom is the lavatory.  The bathroom is very spacious.  It definitely made up for the smallness of the closet.  The whole family can fit in the bathroom and it can save you time.  Each family member can do his or her own thing at the same time.

Water closet
Upon entering the bathroom, the water closet is located on the left side (see picture above); and the shower area is located on the right side (see picture below).

Shower area
Entrance to the balcony

Balcony overlooking the sea
The balcony has this fantastic view of the sea.  The sky changes from this bright hues of white, blue and purple to the darkness of dusk.  It's an amazing feeling specially when you have your love ones beside you.  A simple chat with a glass of champagne would be most romantic.  That's why it always pays to have a positive outlook when having vacations because it would start your whole trip in a bright light that will end giving you that satisfaction of a well worth relaxing trip.

Canyon Cove Resort Batangas - A Family Vacation-Destination

We ride our cars all the way to Canyon Cove Resort Batangas.  This is one of those trips that gives you absolute excitement in awaiting what's in store for you.  It's like that anticipation when you have this special gift that you want to open and that day finally came for you to open it?  This is exactly how it feels.

Canyon Cove Resort Batangas

Canyon Cove Resort Batangas is a beachfront resort that we city people always look for.  We admit to ourselves the fact that the city in itself is very polluted already that's why almost everybody especially the kids, one way or the other has allergies or asthma.  The beach is almost always a good alternative for this kind of condition.  The beach in itself is very therapeutic and basically nature has its own magic that's good for our health.

So we had the chance to get a good deal in one of the group buying sites, which by the way is the popular way to get good deals nowadays; for an overnight stay here. So of course we grabbed the chance.

Canyon Cove Resort comes with it facilities and services that would fit any sport-inclined person or just any ordinary person who wants to just leisurely spend their vacation with the art of doing absolutely nothing! =)

Room accommodations comes in choices of Superior rooms, Deluxe rooms and Suites.  All features quality and comfort in every detail.  Resort activities includes; swimming pool with adjoining bar and kiddie pool, children's playground; game room with billiard tables, air hockey and videoke.  Beach activities includes; beach volley area, water sports like kayak, snorkeling, pedal boat, skim board, jet ski, banana boat and scuba diving with lessons; also there's island hopping, sunset cruise and a lot more.  All these with corresponding fees for those that needs rental of equipment and gears.

Truthfully, the swimming pool and the beach itself will occupy your time already that renting other sporting equipment will come secondary to your mind. =)

Children's Playground

Worried that you will not have enough activities for your kids?  Fear not, the children's playground will occupy most of your kid's time beside the swimming pool of course.  Another plus is the white sand surrounding the playground.  Feeling of the sand on the feet and hands are good for the sensory feelings of your kids. =)

Swimming pool

The swimming pool of course, are for the adults and the kids.  The lagoon-shaped pools gives you that paradise-feeling on a man-made pool.

Island Cafe Restaurant
Island Cafe Restaurant, this is were we ate our breakfast buffet.  The buffet was really simple with fruits, pancakes, scrambled eggs, cereals, coffee... to name a few but nevertheless we had a wonderful time.  I think the aura the beach offers gives you that laid back feeling of relaxation and a doze of that happiness, that everything seems to feel just perfect the way they are.

This picturesque swimming pool is what greeted us when we decided to take a stroll along the beachfront at night.  It was a romantically-lovely sight to look upon don't you think?

Wooden shed on the beachfront
The beachfront at night
It was already dark when we took off our slippers and walk along the sandy beach.  The roughness of the sand has that soothing effect on our senses.  And guess what, we were not the only ones who took the time to do so.  We had the chance to let loose and just walk along the shoreline and soaked our feet on the salt water.  Our kid was drenched in salt water and covered with sand but we didn't hear a single complain, I guess he just loved playing too much to mind that he is sticky all over with salt water and sand.

The night ended with us rejuvenated and somewhat vacation-fulfilled.  I guess city life does take its toll on us and having this once-in-awhile vacations is definitely a must!

Christmas 2011 at Dusit Thani Manila

Reading the title of this blog, I know this blog is way too late already.  I'm really sorry for that.  I should have blogged it a little earlier.  I was thinking of not blogging this at all; but as I scan through the pictures, it's just way too beautiful and colorful to pass up and not share at all.  So just please pardon this blog for it's lateness.  Maybe let's just have this blog for the record or idea comparison for this years yuletide season. =)

Dusit Thani's Christmas Tree

Christmas at Dusit Thani was a sight to behold.  After our sumptious dinner we wondered around the lobby through the Christmas trees that are purposely put up along the vast floor.  I was wondering why so much Christmas trees at the same time.  Surely one would be enough.

Somehow,  I wandered and read some of the notes written on each Christmas tree.  Then I realized it was a contest of sort and proceeds will go to the chosen foundation of the Family Tree that will win.  Though I was not able to verify this but nevertheless, my assumption just stuck in my mind; so if you know better, please try to inform me. =)

The above picture, I presume was Dusit Thani's own Christmas tree.  It was towering over the others with its amazing height.  It was definitely a sight to behold.

The Family Trees which participated were equally amazing and just a feast for the eyes.  Never thought Christmas trees could come in so many forms.  Below are the Family Trees and their notes under the trees.  Choose your favorite.  I have my own. =)

Llamas Family
"Christmas Symphony"
The Llamas Family's Christmas Tree is filled with different musical instruments and gift boxes.  This represents the various talents and blessings given to us by the Lord - that we should share in our everyday life.  The gift boxes represent the different wishes we have for our less fortunate brothers and sisters, such as food, clothing and education.

With the Llamas Family being in the music and live entertainment industry, interior designers Pamela Tan and Aivan Magno have designed the Christmas Tree to symbolize the vision and image of the family.

The chosen charity is the Philippine Progress Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports our less fortunate brothers and sisters, including street children in the Philippines.

Cruz Family
Reflections of Light
The Cruz Family Christmas Tree is an art installation using recycled perfume bottles in different shapes and sizes.  Mirror is used to create multiple reflections of sparkling blue led lights and an illusion of infinity adorned with silver candelabras as accent.

This was created with the recyclable glass as main inspiration related to the advocacy of the family of caring for the environment.  The family works with love, respect, togetherness and the "bayanihan" spirit of helping each other while being self reliant.

The chosen charity is the Hospicio De San Jose, as a catholic welfare institution, of the poor where the young and elderly coming from diversified and marginalized families and communities find home.

Jacinto Family
Angels of Music
The Jacinto family tree is adorned with Angels with musical instruments using gold decor to signify the richness and opulence of music originating from the classical times (Bach, Mozart, Chopin, etc.).  The inspiration of Rustan's Flower Shop for its decor is RJ's love for music.
The chosen charity is the Makabata School Foundation; located in Pasig.  It gives free education to the poorest of poor street children from prep to high school.  Headed by Maruxa Pita, a member of the Teresian Association (of St. Pedro Poveda College) and a recent Blessed Mother Teresa Awardee.

Yao Family
Giving Time

Christmas is a Time for Giving and sharing, it is also when we take a break from our busy schedules and spare some time to bond with our family and friends.
The Emerson and Lingling Yao Family's chosen charity is World Vision.

Cunanan Family

Childhood memories from a never-ending Travelife
in memory of the late father TYC (1938-2011)

Christine Cunanan's Christmas tree is about travel, and her childhood memories of traveling with the family during the Christmas holidays, on a series of unforgettable adventures to exotic places.  These family Christmas trips sealed her lifelong love for travel.  This Christmas tree is also in memory of her father who passed away last January.  He was a brave soldier, and also a tireless traveler and adventurer.
Chosen charity is the Alay Sa Kawal Foundation, which is a foundation her mother founded in 1989 to raise funds for families of soldiers who have died in the service of the nation.

Aldanese Family

Choc Full of Love
Give chocolates to your loved ones this Christmas, what better way of showing your love this holiday season than to give a sweet part of you... something that everyone would surely love.

Made to resemble Villa de Conte's scrumptious chocolates using recycled materials such as plastic lids, coasters, small plates and wood twigs, and then fashioned into a variety of shapes and sizes, the architectural Christmas tree full of sophisticated goodness is designed and executed by virtual artist Doltz Pilar.

Chosen charity is Emmaus Home for the Crying and Abandoned Aged.

De Venecia Family

Butterflies of Hope
The De Venecia Family Tree is called "Butterflies of Hope".  Butterflies are said to be representations of our departed loved ones and it has become somewhat of a symbol of hope and renewal for the Vera Perez and de Venecia family over the years.  Like the life of a beautiful, passing butterfly, KC's life, as well as that of our other departed loved ones, Daddy Pinggot Perez, Mommy Vera, Lolo Pepito, Lolo Goyito, Lola Casimira and Lolo Pepe de Venecia, Tito Bobby Vera Perez, Tita Boots de Venecia, Tito Tony de Venecia, Tito Gil de Venecia, and Tita Teresing de Venecia, were short yet meaningful.  We honor their memory and their legacy in this butterfly-themed Christmas tree decorated with bright and colorful accents that are symbolic of all the wonderful memories we've shared together.

Our chosen charity is the KC de Venecia Scholarship Foundation.  To date, it has sent over fifty underprivileged students to college in the field of the arts and the sciences.  KC's memory reamins alive through their journeys, and other endeavors like the INA Foundation (Inang Naulila sa Anak) - a support group headed by my mom, Cong, Gina de Venecia for grieving mothers who have lost a child.  It is the reason why our tree stands firmly here today.

Villar Family

Water Hyacinth With 3 Sails, 2011

The Villar Family, with strong familial roots, has been staunch supporters of the cleaning of Philippine waterways.  They have encouraged the use of water hyacinth as raw materials to generate livelihoods opportunities.

The tree is wovenin water hyacinth, meticulously hand-woven by the artisans of S.C. Vizcarra with three sails representing the three Villar children.

The Family will support the Villar Foundation new livelihood project.  Any cash prize that they may receive will be used towards the purchase of the equipment needed for the project.

Carrion Family

God's message of Love & Giving

Christmas around the world is a symbol of love, giving and joy.  Our family's Christmas tree is always centered on the Nativity, as the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes God's undying love for us.  The angels surrounding the Holy Family symbolizes joy and the mystical nature of Christmas.  The small Christmas Trees that accompany the Nativity scene and the angels symbolizes the giving of gifts whether material or spiritual.

Donations for our Christmas Tree will go towards the building of the Full Charity Clinic and Learning Center for the mothers and young children located in Barangay Cawit, Boac Marinduque.  The blessing and inauguration of the Clinic and the learning center will be held on November 11, 2012.

Basix - Dusit Thani's International Buffet Restaurant

Last December 2011, finally, my husband and I decided to have time for ourselves only.  A romantic dinner for two if some of you might like to call it.  We chose to dine at Dusit Thani's international buffet restaurant - Basix.

Dusit Thani's Basix Restaurant

Having dined a few times already, we knew what to expect.  Basix has their international buffet where array of dishes are set before your eyes.  But not only is Basix famous for their buffet, it's most popular with its unlimited drinks of juices, sodas, beers and the best part of all - unlimited red wine or white wine.  We've dined a few times with family and friends during the early months of the year 2011; so we were surprised when we were informed that the unlimited drinks is not included anymore in the buffet.  You need to pay an additional fee of P500.00 per person on top of your buffet fee to avail of that unlimited drinks including wines.  No wonder there were so few people when we dined.  Nevertheless, determined not to ruin our dinner plans we continued our dinner with a positive heart and positive view.

Since this blog is already three (3) months late, I was curious as to what Basix offers right now since it was very obvious that loyal patron were not patronizing the restaurant during that time.  So I found out that as of this moment,  March 2012, they are offering Basix buffet at P1,650.00 net per person including unlimited drinks of juices, sodas and beers.  Red and white wine you have to order ala carte by the bottle or by the glass, not included in the unlimited drinks.  Well, at least this is much more better than paying an additional of P500.00 for the unlimited drinks, unless of course if you love wines.  Then you have no choice but to order ala carte.  Well, I really do hope diners will come back to Basix.  It's still a nice experience for me and my husband. =)

Inside Basix
Truthfully, I didn't really mind us being only one of the few diners here.  We really need that quiet time and space for ourselves, so it was quite refreshingly relaxing for once.

There's actually a lot more.  There's the Japanese and Indian Cuisine Section but I was not really able to take photos of them anymore.  I just wanted to enjoy the night while it's still young. =)

Here's our romantic dinner for two.  Well, as you've guessed it we just throw our worries to the wind for now and splurge the fee of P500.00 each for this unlimited drink specially the white wine.  No, we're not wine addicts; a sip or two with a good glass of wine along with the meal just somehow made it all the more surreal.

If you are like us who loves fresh oysters, you will definitely enjoy this.  The Olive Oil and Cilantro Soup, not really our cup of tea.  It's an acquired taste for us.

A small sample of each kind of dish, we don't want to easily fill our tummy with just one sitting.  The U.S. Prime Rib of beef was delicious!  Always ordered mine medium well.

The usual tempura.  Nothing fancy a taste of everything while enjoying each other's company.

Crabs!  This variety is always a must for us.  It is sort of our finger foods along with that little sip of white wine.

Even with a full tummy, this delicate chocolate treat was not able to pass by unnoticed.

My fruit-ending of the night.  Watermelon and melon-dunked into the chocolate fountain.  I think the chocolate fountain's chocolate was a bit runny.  I appreciated the chocolate syrup that I drizzled more than the other.

Still, I can't resist this delectable mango crepe made specially for me.  I even requested the chef to make it a little smaller.  Just simply yum!
