Dusit Thani Manila - Deluxe Room Accommodation

With our room cards in hand, we excitedly waited for our elevator.  Inside the elevator we pressed the floor assigned to us, then... nothing happens!  Our floor number was not lighting up the way its supposed to when we press them.

Oh, guess what, I finally realized that you have to slip your room card for verification. =)  Pretty cool huh?  This partly ensures every guests' safety since only guests staying at the hotel can have access to the room floors.  I know some hotels have this feature but not all, so it's really wonderful that this hotel have it.  Not to mention, my kid enjoys slipping the card every time we use the elevator. =)

Then up we go.  Upon arriving at the 10th floor, our floor; we then stopped for a moment and take in the designs and carpeted floors.

Our room at 1012.  Observe the switch at the left side.  It's a switch for the "Make Up Room", "Do Not Disturb" and doorbell.  While other hotels use paper signs to hang on the door knob, Dusit Thani uses this switch. =)

The Deluxe room.  We chose the king sized bed instead of the two (2) single sized bed.  Farther, are the sofa and coffee table; the curtains behind covers the window to our room.

Our luxurious king sized bed with its pillows has lamps on both sides which cast golden glow of lights that adds to the cozy and homey atmosphere and invites one to relax amidst all the luxury and refinement of the room.

We were really able to maximize this sofa and coffee table.  This is where we chatted through cups of coffee before we explored the hotel's amenities.  It was already dark when we checked-in, fixing some loose ends at work and at home.  So this was really a perfect way to relax with your love ones, taking time to  just lean back on the sofa while talking about life itself.  Sometimes a conversation with your love ones can lift out some of the things that's bothering us with our day to day life.

Facing the bed are the television, minibar, luggage rack, working desk and mirror.  The minibar is inconspicuously located below the television.  Beside it is the working table complete with complimentary drinks like coffee, tea and mineral water.

Though there's really one small thing that disappoints me; and to those techie people,  there's no free wi-fi. =(  They do have wi-fi but it has a corresponding fee.  Such a pity, we were prepared all along bringing our laptops and surprise!  No free wi-fi.  Maybe in the future they will have?  =)


Nevertheless, all is enjoyably relaxing and fun. =)

    Dusit Thani Manila

    As I read through the pages of "Dusit International" book-magazine, as I call it;  I found out quiet a few interesting facts.

    That...
    "Dusit Thani" means a "town in heaven".  This is what the inspiration of Dusit Thani is.  That for over 60 years they have worked to translate Thailand's King Rama VI's ideal which was that he envisioned a wondrous utopian kingdom; an inspiration for the experience that Dusit Thani continually aim to create for their guests whether for business or for pleasure.

    Located in Makati,  where the central business district of Manila is.  It is strategically accessible to leading business address, embassies, exclusive residential areas and malls, all of which are in walking distance.  For me, it is very convenient and enjoyable.  I can enjoy the luxury of this hotel and what's more I can shop to my hearts delight at the malls beside this hotel without worrying how to get back come night fall.

    Upon entering its luxurious lobby, Thai artistry and creativity are clearly seen in every detail of their surroundings.  From the design on the walls and floors, decorations and unique ornaments to the uniforms of the employees, Thai detail is infused in every way.



    In my view, these are the following things that guests usually visit this hotel for:


    Restaurant

    • Benjarong - gives a Royal Thai dining experience
    • Fiesta San Miguel - serves Filipino Cuisine
    • Tosca - provides an European-Italian culinary experience
    • Umu - a Japanese restaurant

    • Devarana Spa - offers a peaceful tranquil sanctuary of anti-stress and relaxation; a "heaven for spa lover".
    • DFit Fitness Centre - a fitness center with 973 square metres of state-of-the-art studio areas and sauna to meet the individual fitness goals of guests and members.

    Accommodation

    Room accommodations are clean, comfortable and of course excellent in taste.  It offers a calm oasis of international standards, warm Asian service and tastefully furnished comfort that we look for in any rooms.  See my next blog on this.

    Also, for those of you who worry about parking spaces; they do have parking slots for guest, though their parking is only one floor.  So if you come here and stay during the peak season, it might be a little hard but you can always play by luck the way that I usually do in cases like this.

    Although Dusit Thani's parking lot is quiet small,  I kind of like it.  Have you ever encountered parking lots that have steep ramp slopes?  This one has only one ramp slope and it didn't cause us any problem at all.   Remember, it's a first come first serve basis.

      Canyon Woods Residential Resort - Clubhouse Swimming Pool, Tagaytay Philippines

      One of the amenities that most of us can't resist to use is the swimming pool.  There's always that calming quality about the water.  Not only does the exercise  good for your body but it always leaves you feeling relaxed afterwards because most of the time sleep comes next after a good swim.

      Let's face it, kids love swimming (most of them, i think =) ).  Even those who's just paddling and waddling around the pool.  Kids love water!  That's goes to show that the indoor pool is packed with people young and old.  Some brought their own floating devices and pool toys.  It was a fun-packed, noisy-filled pool that greeted us.  Nevertheless, everybody enjoyed the activity.

      Oh before I forget,  they have strict rules before swimming.  You have to wear swimming suits and swimming caps.  The swimming suit is a given.  So I brought my own swimming suit but I didn't bring any swimming caps.  Though it's really no problem because they sell them in the counter, still if you don't want to shed a few extra cash, bring your own swimming caps. =)

      What's a swimming pool without it's locker rooms?  I was able to take a shot of the women's locker room.  See photos below.

      The locker cabinets
      The first thing that will greet you are these locker cabinets.  With wooden bench for you to sit on while fixing and organizing your things.

      As you go deeper inside, this is what you will encounter.  The doors on the right are the shower rooms.  On the left, with the wooden stairs, I think is a jacuzzi (see below for the full photo).  On the far left, there are more doors.  They lead to the toilet rooms.  The spaciousness of the women's locker rooms is well designed for the convenience of its guests.

      I'm not really sure, but I think this is a jacuzzi.  I never really had the chance to ask any personnel there.  Nobody bothers to use it that day.

      I love these amenities.  The indoor swimming pool is just great specially when its windy and raining outside.  It gives you a chance to enjoy swimming even if the weather doesn't permit it.  And oh, love the locker room.  Don't you love it?  It's like you don't want to leave the comforts of it.  This experience will always be something that's worth remembering by.

      Canyon Woods Residential Resort - Fairview, Tagaytay Philippines

      Excited to see how our accommodations would be, map in hand, we navigate our car to Fairview.  Passing through the long roads and trees, finally we then arrived at this vast green field, then I finally realized it is a golf course.

      This golf course greets us when we step out of our Fairview unit.  The fresh air is the most welcoming thing that envelops us during the early mornings.  A far cry from the dust and smog that greet us during early mornings in the bustling city.

      Our unit accommodation at Fairview; it is composed of several units and we stayed at one of its units.  Fairview is an apartment type of accommodation, two (2) floors high.  First floor is where the living area, dining area and kitchen with one (1) bathroom are located.  The second floor has two (2) bedrooms.  The master and the guestroom, both with their own bathrooms.  It can accommodate two (2) families but you can still cramp up one more family where they can sleep in the living area camp style, which means bringing your own foldable beds with you. =)

      Before we went inside, we can't help but notice this tricycle parked just outside our unit.  This vehicle is used to transport our beddings and sheets.  Cool isn't it?  Never really thought what they use to bring all the amenities we need specially with such a huge scope of area.  Fast, convenient, efficient not to mention that it's not huge, so it's easily maneuvers around.  Quick thinking of Canyon Woods, don't you think? =)

      Finally, we entered our unit.


      First Floor

      Living area

      Upon opening the door, the living area is the first thing that will greet you.  Complete with living sofa, table and television.


      Dining area and kitchen
      Beside the living area is the dining area and kitchen.  The dining area and kitchen has a small table counter top that divides the two areas, where you can also put your snacks or just stand while drinking a cup of coffee.  The wooden divider serves a great purpose in separating the dining area to the bathroom.  The sliding door at the back leads to a stoned wall with cleanly mowed grass.  Also a partial photo of the stairs can be seen leading to the second floor.

      Guest room

      The guest room
      The guest room, a single bed with a pull out bed.  Simple but cleanly furnished.  The light white curtains adds to the simplicity of the place.  They also provide pillows and bath towels.  The windows overlooks the back's stoned walls.



      Beside the bed is the closet.  Not much space, but just enough to place your essentials.  Frankly, you really don't need that much space for an overnight do you?

      The guest room is equip with a dresser for your personal knick-knacks and a bathroom.  A stylishly modern lamp stand on the side of the dresser.

      The guest room's bathroom is complete with a lavatory, trash can, water closet and shower.  They also provide their own complimentary Canyon Woods soap and shampoo.  The only souvenir really that you can take home.


      Master bedroom

      Beside the guest room is the master bedroom.  A queen sized bed with pillows and bath towels for two.  It also has its own dresser, night lamp. and painting.  The light curtains covered the window which faces the vast green fields of the golf course.  A perfect view I might say.

      On the bottom of the bed is the closet.  A much bigger closet for the whole family.  Just outside the master bedroom door is the adjacent door of the guest room.

      The master bedroom's bathroom also has its own lavatory, trash can, water closet and shower.  Complete with the complimentary Canyon Woods soap and shampoo.

      It's really quiet like an apartment any family has in the city.  Only this provides you with the extra spectacular view of your surroundings and amenities, activities  you can choose to enjoy on your short vacation at this resort.  A relaxing way to de-stress ourselves from our hectic day to day life. =)
