Our Food Choices at Barbecue Garden Quan Nuong - Vietnam

The most awaited part of "restaurant-hunting" is having to taste the food you have chosen.  With hungry tummies waiting to be satisfied, we began looking at the menu and chose our meal for the night.

Please take note that the prices are up to the discretion of Barbecue Garden if they are going to change it as they see fit.  The prices below are the prices during the time we dined in the restaurant.  These can be a reference just in case you would like to try this restaurant.

       Bo nuong phan gia dinh
(Bo nuong pho mai, ngu vi, sa ot, mat ong, rau cai, com trang)

This dish offers raw beef marinated in different spices, sauces and flavours.  A perfect accompaniment to a bowl of white rice, of course after we cooked it on the grill.  In the menu, it says that this is a family dish good for 3 to 4 persons.  Actually when we ate, it seems just enough for two... I don't know if we were just too hungry or the taste was too irresistible to eat or this was just the restaurant's way to make you order more and more. =)

Well, of course we ordered some more... well... a whole lot more...

We were so engrossed in eating that I forgot to take a photo of this combo 3 dish.  This was the dish to finish off and fully satisfy our tummies.  Cooking the meat ourselves was part of the fun, with the hope that each meat you put on the grill will cook fast so that we can get it to our mouths as quickly as possible.

This is the way we cook it, with oil dripping on the grill.
Just a word of advice, cooking on the grill can be a bit hazardous.  Beware of oil splashing from time to time.  If you are not used to this it can be a bit rough.  But after awhile, you can get used to it and the rewards of that fleshy yummy goodness inside your mouth is well worth it! =)

Vietnam Restaurants:

Barbecue Garden Quan Nuong - Vietnam

On our third night after our tour we went "restaurant-hunting" once again.  Walking is the best way to look around.  We kept walking along the streets of Ho Chi Minh; truthfully, we felt we were really lost until we pass by an open air restaurant.  It was really appealing at night with all the lights hanging among the trees and the laughter of people dining inside the restaurant.  We got curious and checked out the place.

The relaxing ambiance combined with the aromas and music filling the air piqued our senses.

At first, albeit a little bit reluctant, we step through its entrance.  The laughter and sounds of people talking were the first to greet our sense of hearing.  Then comes the lights that delightfully greeted our sense of sight along with people dining, be it local or foreign which just goes to show how people patronized the place.  Then along came the swift mixture of aromas mingling through the air whething our... by that time hungry tummies, thus our appetites.

We chose our seats with a tent hanging on our heads.  Yes, I know, I'm a spoil sport right?  You might say, it's an outdoor restaurant for crying out loud!   Well, we were just making sure not to spoil our dinner instead of regretting when rain suddenly wants to pour its happy tears upon us!  First rule, satisfy our tummies were the top priority! =)

Old fashioned lamps makes the place a little bit rustic too.
There's also one thing that might have attracted people specially tourists with hyper-active kids tagging along with them... is their indian-like tent play area.  While daddies and mommies choose their dinner for the night, the kids can take some of their energy out in this area giving parents a little breathing space... if you know what I mean. ;)

This is one thing my child would really have loved playing in.  But alas, this was the time when I didn't bring him along due to it being school days.  But nevertheless, I would like to share this for those parents looking for some interactive fun for their children while at the same time having some great food.

For some of you who might be interested in this restaurant, I took a shot of their calling card.  See photos below.

Enough of the place already, by now, you must want some insight on the food we ate.  I'll bring you to that journey.  Please check out my next blog on the the food we chose.

Kichi Kichi at Vincom Center in Vietnam

On our usual quest for good food, we wandered around on our second day in Vietnam.  We set our target on where to eat for dinner.  Walking along Ho Chi Minh City was quiet refreshing.  The common transportation of motorcycle is always a must see on the roads.  Flocks of motorcycles waiting for the stop light to turn green is a sight to behold.  We continued our journey through the peaceful streets of Ho Chi Minh just by walking around.  Our foot finally set us to Vincom Center.
    Vincom1
Vincom Center (171 Dong Khoi, District 1, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam)
Vincom Center, a large mall in Ho Chi Minh City; standing tall among its surroundings, almost dwarfs everything around it.  Its glass paneled-modern structure speaks volume of its contemporary interior.  Stepping indoors makes you feel luxurious.  Luxury brands like Armani, Jimmy Choo, FCUK to name a few.  Other famous entities like Aldo, Bata, Braun Buffel, Charles & Keith, Pedro, Pierre Cardin, Bonia, Armani Cafe, BreadTalk, Highland Coffee, Kichi Kichi, Mochi Sweets, BUD's Ice Cream, Fanny Ice Cream, Carl's Jr. and a lot more can be found in this shopping center.  Truly, a shopaholic haven!

Below are some of these entities:
    Vincom2
Mochi Sweets, a Japanese cake made from glutinous rice flour, extraction of fruits, kidney bean and cream.
    Vincom3
Car's Jr., an American fast food burger outlet
    Vincom4
Facade of one of the restaurants inside the mall.
We wandered along each level looking for our restaurant.  Arriving at the fifth floor, we saw Kichi Kichi.  It piqued our interest and we decided to dine in for dinner.
    Kichi-Kichi 1
    Kichi-Kichi, a sit-down hot pot restaurant.
Kichi-Kichi, upon paying a fixed amount; one is lead to a table with its revolving conveyor of over 100 selected items to choose from.  From meat to seafood to vegetables to name some.  This hotpot buffet also offers sushi and snack buffet including fruits.  It's really eating to your hearts content.  I know I was happy and fulfilled when we finished!

    Kichi-Kichi 5
    Beef wrapped Enoki mushroom
    Kichi-Kichi 4
    Stuffed crab shell
Our food choices from the conveyor and sushi & fruit bar:
    Kichi-Kichi 9
    Kichi-Kichi 8
    Kichi-Kichi 10

The freedom of choice to choose our food and cook it in hotpot style; can't really ask for a more healthy dinner.  It was a dining experience worth relishing!
